An escape from the stomach god automatically lands us under the influence of the second god desiring our worship – the self god. Whereas the stomach god focuses on food and survival; the self god is interested in fame and praise of men, the narrative follows this order.

When we have enough to eat and drink, it seems something begins to push us to show ourselves; to let others, and the world know that things are working for us. This something is called self. Some called it human nature and some called it the flesh.

As we are aware, this present generation is a selfie generation! We want to be seen. We want to be heard. We want to be talked about. We want to trend. While we can say these things are not bad in themselves, we need to watch out for what is pushing these agendas in us. If self is the boss, then it is also our god and we owe it an allegiance of worship.
