You can serve without worship but you can never worship without serving. The two must not be confused to be the same thing. The essence of service is to meet a need; that is why the people who serve are called servants, like government workers being called civil servants.
They offered their service and they can withdraw their service. They can serve for reward sake or serve voluntarily. Worthy of note with service is that servant is at liberty to render or not to render a service. So, service can be done with no intention to worship.
Engrained in worship however is service. Worshippers are not servants; they are slaves, they are OWNED! Service is one of the ways they use to worship their owner. They are not motivated by reward or meeting needs, they are kind of SENTENCED to serving. They don’t do their own biddings again, but only the biddings of the One who owns them.
So, if the Owner says for example, “serve me today by doing nothing, just sit here with me”. Worshippers just SIT!
